Kattegattleden – a 390 km national cycle path
Kattegattleden is Sweden’s first national cycle path with a unique coastal location. The 390 km trail runs from Helsingborg in the south to Gothenburg in the north, and passes Halmstad roughly at its halfway point.
We are not the only ones who think that the Kattegatleden is something very special. At the Cycling and Hiking Fair in Utrecht in the Netherlands, the Kattegat Trail was named the cycle path of the year in 2018.
The sea is almost always in sight along Kattegattleden, and a variety of experiences follow hot on the heels of one another. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, farm shops, guest houses, art studios, fishing spots and beautiful beaches along the way. Take the opportunity to check them out! Have a picnic on one of Sweden’s finest sandy beaches, or opt for a slightly more secluded bay.
Locals and tourists alike should be able to cycle safely and securely on the path and just be able to enjoy the environments. Why not make a longer stop in Halmstad and absorb a little more of our beautiful city and its scenic surroundings, before continuing with even more kilometres of pure natural enjoyment on your bike.
Kattegattleden was inaugurated in 2015 in Halmstad. Since then, it has attracted an ever-increasing number of cycling tourists. The Trail is divided into eight subsections External link, opens in new window.. Halmstad is situated in parts four and five. On Kattegatleden’s website External link, opens in new window., you will find interesting tourist destinations where you can stay, eat, hire bikes and obtain service along the various subsections. You can follow the clear reddish-brown signs along the entire length of the trail. Plan your trip on the Kattegattleden’s website External link, opens in new window..
