Looking to challenge your best friend at tennis, play badminton with your family or watch top-level table tennis? Whichever, Halmstad has racket sports for all.

Halmstad Sportcenter (swe) External link, opens in new window. is Halmstad’s largest racket sports centre. Here you can play tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis and padel. There’s also a café for refreshments and a shop with a wide selection of racket sports equipment. For a number of sports clubs, moreover, it’s home. But whether you want to play as a private person or as a club member makes no difference: you are warmly welcome to Halmstad Sportcenter (swe). External link, opens in new window.

Outdoor courts

In and around Halmstad there are about 45 outdoor tennis courts that are free for the public to use. No booking is required. Note that the quality of the courts may vary however. You can find a map and overview of all the courts on the Municipality of Halmstad website (Swe). External link, opens in new window. We've picked out four that have a little bit extra.

  • To start with, there’s a very popular court at Nyhem on Klackerupsgatan. Recently resurfaced and located in a very pleasant green area,there’s also a children’s playground right alongside.
  • In Slottsparken, a stone's throw from Nissan and Halmstad Castle you’ll find another court in beautiful surroundings. Not only that, Slottsparken's outdoor gym is close at hand.
  • A further court with an excellent surface may be found nestled between Flagskeppsvägen and Galärvägen,
  • At Järnvgsleden / Falckens there is a small green area with a popular and good tennis court.

Indoor courts

Perhaps you’d prefer to play indoors? Then there are two halls to choose from. The multi-sports hall, Halmstad Sportcenter (swe) External link, opens in new window. has five indoor courts and six gravel courts outside. Or you can play at the historic Halmstad Tennis Hall (Swe), External link, opens in new window. built back in 1936 and thus one of Sweden's oldest tennis halls. More recently, it’s also been used for badminton and handball. The hall’s special surface makes for a fantastic tennis experience with excellent touch and feel, while being very gentle on the knees. Book the Halmstad Tennis Hall and you can have the whole place to yourselves. Both halls can be booked for regular sessions or for occasional games.

Tennis clubs

Söndrum Tennis Club (Swe) External link, opens in new window. is based at Halmstad Sportcenter (swe). External link, opens in new window. During the summer, the club offers tennis camps for children and young people and summer courses for adults.

Halmstad Tennis Club External link, opens in new window. has also moved most of its activities to Halmstad Sportcenter (swe) External link, opens in new window. For those interested in membership, however, the club maintains its training sessions at Halmstad Tennis Hall, Karl XI:s väg 13.

Table tennis, badminton and squash

Occasional sessions to play most racket sports can be booked at Halmstad Sportcenter (swe). External link, opens in new window. In addition to padel and tennis, there’s also table tennis, badminton and squash.

Table tennis

Whatever you want to call it, table tennis or ping-pong, you can compete, play for exercise or simply for fun in Halmstad. Halmstad Arena, meanwhile, has a full-size sports hall equipped for table tennis and is Halmstad Table Tennis Club’s (Swe) External link, opens in new window. match venue. Did you know, incidentally, that the World Table Tennis Championships were played in Halmstad in 2018? It was the biggest sporting event in the city's history to date!

Badminton

Team spirit and sociability are the club’s watchwords – and of course everyone is welcome. And of course if you simply want to come in and play, you can book times for that too.

Squash

Squash is played either between two players or in doubles on a course enclosed by four walls. The sport is effective and guarantees skin.
