SUP – Stand Up Paddleboarding
SUP, also known as “stand up paddleboarding,” is a fun way to get around on the water’s surface. It is a great introduction to various types of surfing, easier than wave surfing and more peaceful than kitesurfing.
The stability of a SUP board makes it just as easy to SUP on a breezy day at sea as in any of Halmstad’s rivers on windless days. You do not need any special prior knowledge, as SUP is suitable for most people, large or small, beginners or pros. It’s also excellent exercise. While enjoying nature and your adventure on the water, you get strength, mobility and balance training, almost without even noticing that you’re putting in the effort.
Glide down the river
Take your friends on an adventure down the leafy Fylleån River, or along the Nissan River if you prefer a more relaxed paddling trip.
The Fylleån River
With its Amazon-like environment, where branches stretch out over the water and rising stones challenge your steering, the Fylleån River can offer a real SUP challenge for you. This is Kitekalle’s most popular tour and a perfect, moderately adventurous activity to enjoy with family or friends.
The Nissan River
For a slightly calmer ride, there’s the Nissan River. It is a perfect option for those who want to try SUP for the first time or just want an outing in close proximity to the city. Stop somewhere to replenish your energy reserves. Söderfamiljen Restaurant is easily accessible and a perfect paddling distance. You can even book a champagne tour along the Nissan River (swe). SUP in the sea
Would you rather embark on an adventure at sea? Face the waves and challenge your balance even further? There are several beautiful routes to choose from, and no matter where you opt to paddle, Halmstad’s coast offers fantastic nature experiences.
One great option is an evening trip to the Tylön Nature Reserve for a picnic overlooking Tylösand’s long, sandy beach before the sun goes down. Just make sure that you are permitted to paddle ashore – Tylön is home to sensitive bird life and most of the island is off-limits to visitors from April to mid-July.
Rentals, activities and courses
If you don’t have your own board, you can rent one from several rental services in Halmstad. Are you looking for a really unusual experience? Try practicing yoga or other fitness activities on an SUP!
