The Möllegård Nature Reserve (swe) External link, opens in new window. is a popular destination for walks in Halmstad. The trails are short and easy, taking you through a mix of forest and open land. Nyrebäcken runs through dense alder woods, where rare mosses and herbs grow. In the north, you’ll find open pastures with ancient oak trees and blooming spring flowers. If you visit Möllegård early in the morning, some say you might even see the fairies dancing in the mist.

Mjellby Art Museum

Just 1.4 km from Möllegård, you’ll find Mjellby Art Museum, External link, opens in new window. beautifully located in the countryside. You’ll pass the museum if you walk to the Mjellby Konstmuseum bus stop. The museum is one of the top centers for surrealist art in the Nordic region and is home to a unique collection connected to the Halmstad Group. After major renovations, the museum reopened in 2024. Enjoy the art, a simple coffee break, and fun craft activities for kids.

Getting here and moving on

If you came from Tylösand, this is the final hub on Prins Bertil’s Trail. If you’re heading toward the city, follow the trail through the Möllegård Nature Reserve and continue toward the sea. Once you reach the coast, walk along the beach back to Tylösand.

Public transportation

You can reach Möllegård easily with Hallandstrafiken (swe). External link, opens in new window. The closest bus stop is Mjellby Konstmuseum, about 2.1 km from the entrance to the nature reserve. Buses run from Halmstad Travel Center (Resecentrum). The bus doesn’t leave from Stora Torg, but you can catch it from Västerbro, just 130 meters away from the square.
