We are rebuilding and celebrating 70 years
It happens a lot at Halmstads Teater. The foyer to the Stora salongen is being renovated and opened up. When everything is ready we will celebrate big, but before that we celebrate Halmstad's theater's 70th birthday. Follow the renovation on our social media.
When will the theater be renovated?
The renovation began in June 2024. Different parts of the theater will be closed for different periods. Please note that the times may be adjusted. The renovation will continue and be completed even after the Great Hall and foyer are reopened to visitors.
Renovation times
- Stora salongen and foyer Closed May 6–October 15
- Festsalen Do not hesitate to send your request. During the renovation, we will be able to accept bookings during certain periods, mainly in the evening. Closed during the day, with some exceptions, March–September due to possible disturbing noise. Send your booking request.
- Conference Do not hesitate to send your request. During the renovation, we will be able to accept bookings during certain periods. Closed during the day on some days March–September due to possible disturbing noise. Send your booking request.

What changes?
Several things will change during the renovation. When renovating, work is done to maintain the feeling and style that is already present in the house. Five points you will notice extra:
Larger foyer
The foyer will be larger as the offices that previously existed around the foyer will now become part of the foyer, wardrobe and toilets.
Place for approximately 500 seated dinner guests
Thanks to the foyer becoming larger, this also enables more dinner guests. The number of dinner guests in the foyer increases from 300 to around 500 seated.

Availability
A new elevator will be installed in the main entrance up to the large foyer.
Two bars
Today there is a bar in Halmstads Teater's main foyer. After renovation, the current one will be bigger and there will be another bar.
More toilets
The toilets in the foyer are being moved and there will be more.

On November 13 2024, during the renovation, Halmstad's Theater turns 70 years old. We will celebrate this with several different performances in connection with the birthday. When the renovation is finished, we celebrate again

When is the renovation planned to start?
The renovation started in June 2024.
Will I still be able to attend performances or conferences?
Yes, the renovation will be adapted so that the house's operations can continue as usual to the greatest extent possible.
How will it be with construction dust and dirt?
We will maintain regular cleaning routines throughout the renovation and deploy extra cleaning efforts on an ongoing basis.
What difference will you notice when the renovation is complete?
You will come to a theater that has been renovated and maintained its functional charm while expanding its capacity. After the renovation, Halmstads Teater has got more and new toilets, expanded serving options, you will be able to receive up to around 500 seated diners in the foyer and accessibility has improved.
When does the theater turn 70 years old?

Will Halmstad Tourist Center be able to be open as usual? How are service and ticket sales affected?

Until the 4/1 2025, Halmstad Tourist Center is temporarily located at Klammerdammsgatan 4 in temporary premises in connection with the exhibition about Golden Times – The Golden Times Experience.
