Kattegattleden – a 395 km national cycle path

Kattegatleden is Sweden’s first national cycle path with a unique coastal location. The 395 km trail runs from Helsingborg in the south to Gothenburg in the north, and passes Halmstad roughly at its halfway point.

We are not the only ones who think that the Kattegatleden is something very special. At the Cycling and Hiking Fair in Utrecht in the Netherlands, the Kattegat Trail was named the cycle path of the year in 2018external link, opens in new window.

The sea is almost always in view along the Kattegatleden, and a variety of experiences follow hot on the heels of one another. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, farm shops, guest houses, art studios, fishing villages and beautiful beaches along the way. Take the opportunity to stop off! Have a picnic on one of Sweden’s finest sandy beaches, or opt for a slightly more secluded cove.

Locals and tourists alike should be able to cycle safely and securely on the Trail, maybe to get to work or simply to enjoy the countryside. Why not make a longer stop in Halmstad and take in a little more of our beautiful city and its scenic surroundings, before continuing with even more kilometres of pure natural enjoyment on your bike.

The Kattegat Trail was inaugurated in 2015 in Halmstad. Since then, it has attracted an ever-increasing number of cycling tourists. The Trail is divided into eight subsectionsexternal link, opens in new window. Halmstad is situated in parts four and five.
