This is the tour for anyone who wants to experience something new and learn about Sweden. You are the sort of person who appreciates the local and the authentic and who is fascinated by heritage and history.

09.00 Gentle start with breakfast at Skånskan, a wonderful café that, in the city’s heart, has been offering locals home-baked goodies ever since 1930.

10.00 From Skånskan, you walk to Halmstad Castle and then continue to Prince Bertil’s trail. Time to learn Halmstad’s history. Download a map of Prince Bertil’s trail and drink in the atmosphere along this salt-tinctured walk. You can take a bus back to the city from several points along the trail.

12.00 Time to rest tired legs in Halmstad City while enjoying true, Swedish, everyday food at Restaurang Yoss.

14.00 After lunch, it is time for a trip up Galgberget hill for a beautiful view across the city. Visit the Hallandsgården open-air museum to see how Swedish families used to live.

16.00 At Hallandsgården in the summer, you can enjoy hearty refreshments with classic Swedish waffles and the glorious view across Halmstad. At other times of the year, take a trip down into Halmstad City and feast at one of the many cafés.

18.00 Evening! Make the trip to Tres Hombres Art at Hotel Tylösand and check out the Gyllene Tider album collection. Enjoy the beautiful artworks while learning more about Gyllene Tider, the Halmstad-rooted band that, in Sweden, is synonymous with summer.

20.00 End the day with a well-composed meal at Hotel Tylösand and the sound of the waves breaking on the beach.

The active countryside lover

This is the tour for anyone who loves being out in the countryside with the wind in their hair. You like outdoor activities in all their forms.

09.00 Start the day with a substantial breakfast at Cortado Coffeeshop in the heart of the city. You are guaranteed good coffee made from beans grown with full respect for nature and people.

10.00 Try stand-up paddleboarding. Take a trip along either the Nissan river or at the Västra Stranden beach. Kitekalle and Söderpiren will help with equipment and guiding.

12.00 Eat a traditional Swedish lunch at Yoss.

14.00 Cycle along the Hylteslingan (Hylte circuit) or go by bus/car to the Simlångsdalen valley. Stop at the Tallhöjden inn and buy a picnic basket for a stroll in the Danska Fall nature reserve. Danska Fall is both beautiful and historic. It is said that this is where the Danes fell after the Battle of Fyllebro (1676) against the Swedes.

16.00 Enjoy your picnic in the tranquillity of the Danska Fall nature reserve.

18.00 Back in Halmstad, it is time to try fatbiking. A fatbike is one made for cycling where it would otherwise be difficult. Take a trip out on the Västra Stranden beach. You can hire your fatbike from Kitekalle/Rent a bike.

20.00 Eat something good at the Söderpiren restaurant and café by the sea on the Västra Stranden beach. Cycle along the beach in the setting sun and delight in the wonders of nature.
