Tylösand, which has been named as Sweden's best beach on a number of occasions, is the flagship beach in Halmstad. Wonderful swimming is guaranteed here. On sunny summer days, the beach is full of tourists along its nearly 4 km.
Along with Frösakull and Ringenäs, Tylösand beach is part of the four-kilometre-long expanse of sand around the Tylö bay. The beaches are popular, both with tourists and Halmstad locals.
Tylösand beach
In the middle of the sandy beach there is a clock. The closer you get to the clock, the more people you will have around you. If you need a little more space and tranquillity, you can either walk slightly to the north towards Frösakull and Ringenäs or go and lie down in the sand dunes. The beach has a disabled toilet.
During the summer you can end every day at Tylösand beach with a visit to the pulsating After Beach bar at Solgården, a delightful amphitheatre between the dunes. The After Beach bar is open every day during the summer, starting at 4pm. Concerts and stand-up events are organised a few evenings a week. Examples of artists who have visited Solgården include Petra Marklund, Ulf Lundell, Hoffmaestro, Magnus Uggla, Sunny Standup and Badjävlar. Solgården is part of Hotel Tylösand. The SummerSmash festival is also held here every year. A week full of beach volleyball.
If you want to enjoy beautiful coastal scenery, you can walk along Prince Bertil's Trail, which runs from Halmstad Castle in the centre, along the coast out to Tylösand and further out towards Möllegård.
Frösakull beach
Frösakull beach is at least as pretty as the better-known Tylösand beach, but it’s a little quieter here. Walk along one of the several footbridges, which lead from the summer cottage areas over the dunes down to the beach. The beach is to some extent monitored by lifeguards. There are toilets and a volleyball net.
Ringenäs beach
Ringenäs is the northern part of Tylö Bay’s 4 km-long sandy beach. Just as with Frösakull, it’s a bit quieter here.
Lifeguards
The Halmstad-Söndrum Lifeguard Society is based and operates in Tylösand. With 80 qualified lifeguards and instructors, they spend thousands of hours every summer ensuring that all visitors have a safe visit to Tylösand.
Water quality and temperature
On the website of the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management, during the bathing season you can see the current forecast, with water quality, algae formation and water temperature of the official bathing beaches.
