Halmstad’s weaving history

Weaving is art - plain and simple. What’s more, it stretches far beyond the edges of your carpet, because weaving is all around you. On the table. On the floor. On the walls. On the ceiling. On the furniture. In your clothes. In the bed linen. As works of fine art. On our webpage “Halmstad’s weaving history,” (swe) we have assembled everything from beautiful weavings to weaving factories.

Admire the beautiful city library, whose facade is reflected so beautifully in the rippling waters of the Nissan River. Or why not immerse yourself in Danish-Swedish history at Halmstad Castle? At Norre Port you’ll find one of Sweden’s few preserved city gates, dating from the 1600s. We’ve compiled a list of the “Seven Wonders of Halmstad.” Some are in the city center, while others are a bit further afield. All of them are equally worth seeing.

On the banks of the Nissan River you will find the Halland Art Museum, which always has exciting exhibitions going on. If you take a longer walk, you will come to Slottsmöllan, a historic industrial area that was once a center of textile production.
