Current major events

In Halmstad, our philosophy is to live everything to the full. Of course, this is easy when you live in, or are visiting, a city with a constant stream of events. These are some of Halmstad’s largest events in the coming weeks.

Football – UEFA women’s under 17 European championship 2020

The UEFA women’s under 17 European championship is being staged in Sweden from 9 to 22 May 2020. Europe’s eight best national teams will then be deciding the title in the host locations of Falkenberg, Varberg, Halmstad and Ängelholm. This championship is the first such youth tournament to be played in Sweden since 2002. Then, it was the turn of the women’s under 19 European championship.

Qualifiers for the championship begin in September and are the starting gun for the chase to be the seven finalists who, along with Sweden, will be deciding the European title in May 2020. Besides 16 thrilling matches between Europe’s eight most accomplished teams, the championship also offers peripheral events. The atmosphere will be electric.

Swedish championships week 2020

In the face of stiff competition, Halmstad has once again been chosen as host city for the popular summer Swedish championships. This event was highly appreciated on the two previous occasions (2011 and 2013) it was held in Halmstad. Residents, association members and business operators all pressed for the championships to return here. The time has now come!

Swedish championships week is being held in Halmstad from 24 to 30 June 2020. The event is being arranged in collaboration with the “Swedish Sports Confederation”, several specialist sports associations and SVT (the Swedish public service television company).
