| The Halland coastal road between Halmstad and Falkenberg winds its way through the characteristic coastal landscape and offers both detours and exciting tourist destinations. It boasts "Turistväg" (Tourist Route) on its brown and white signs. |
Let the road guide you through new experiences on a day trip – or use it as a more sensual alternative to the E6.
There follows a small selection of the sights on offer, but remember to keep your eyes open so as not to miss any gems on the way. |
 1 Halmstad Castle
2 Halmstad Äventyrsland (Adventure Land)
Theme parks and mini world to explore and play in.
3 Grötvik Småbåtshamn (Grötvik Marina)
Partly located in the old quarry, which dominated the area at the turn of the century.
4 Tylösand
Miles and miles of beaches with thick sand dunes and Tylö Nature Reserve outside. Rhododendronparken is down by St Olof’s Chapel and there are disabled swimming facilities at Svärjarehålan.
5 Möllegårds naturreservat (Möllegård Nature Reserve)
Footpaths by Nyrebäcken through deciduous forest, marshland and pasture. Italian café with home-made ice cream.
6 Mjellby Konstmuseum (Mjellby Art Museum)
The home of the surrealist Halmstad Group. Also national and international exhibitions. Café Blå.
7 Heagård
These magnificent farm buildings were hewn from rock in the 19th century. Restaurant and clothes shop.
8 Haverdalsreservatet (Haverdal Reserve)
A field of shifting sands where pine trees have been planted. A footpath goes through magical pine forests, ending at the Lynga sand dune, which extends to 36 metres above sea level.
9 Särdals kvarn (Särdal Mill)
Built in 1890, this six-storey windmill is one of the largest in Scandinavia. Café and farm shop with local produce.
10 Steninge glasbruksruin (Remains of the Steninge glass factory)
The glass factory was built in the 1870s and was in operation until the First World War. Steninge Restaurant & Café.
11 Steninge naturreservat (Steninge Nature Reserve)
Coastal moor partly covered in heather, with glades, shingle fields and many different species of flora.
12 Skipås
"God’s green meadow" is a good area for a stroll, with grazing meadows, beech woods and blue anemones.
13 Svedinos Bil- och Flygmuseum i Ugglarp (Car and Aeroplane Museum).
A large collection of veteran cars and aeroplanes. Open in the summer.
14 Berte Museum
Life in the country in Slöinge. An emphasis on rural life, particularly from 1870 to the present day. |
