| Halmstad offers a huge amount of activities for children, whether young or older. Here are a few tips that might inspire you. |
Mjellby for children Welcome to Halmstad’s own art museum - Mjellby Konstmuseum (Mjellby Art Museum). Every Sunday, all year round, children are welcomed into our creative workshop. Following different themes, children can try out different techniques and materials under the supervision of the museum’s educators and visiting artists. How about painting, trying out wax modelling, building houses out of boxes or making puppets? There’s so much fun! The Art Workshop is completely free and you don’t need to book – just turn up! Come to the entrance hall at 12.15 every Sunday. See the Events Calendar or the museum’s website to find out what’s happening this Sunday. Entry to Mjellby Art Museum is free for children and young people under 20. Welcome!

Playgrounds There are some real gems among our 218 playgrounds. There’s a Pippi Longstocking-themed playground in Norre Katts Park. Sagoängen (Story Meadow) at Galgberget is a disability-friendly playground in a natural environment with an exploration path and barbecue area. Folkets Park (People’s Park) is half park, half natural environment, with lots of apparatus for both small and larger children. The emphasis at Ekolekplatsen (Eco-Playground) at Vallås is biological diversity. There’s a lack of apparatus, apart from Nature’s own toys in the form of rocks, trees, water and plants.
Östra stranden boasts a seven-metre-high climbing net. Slottsparken has a disability-friendly playground with a historical theme, a maze made from hornbeam trees and a tennis court. Tåglekplatsen (The Train Playground) in Stationsparken naturally takes its inspiration from its proximity to the train station, and on the nature trail Barnens backe (Children’s Hill) at Svärjarehålan, both children and adults learn a thing or two about the laws of nature.
